Breastfeeding While Taking Zoloft

My doctor has prescribed Zoloft to me for depression however, I am breastfeeding a baby. Should I take it while breastfeeding? Is it safe while breastfeeding? Does it pass through the breast milk? More and more moms are struggling with postpartum depression.Breastfeeding has many tremendous benefits for your baby. In fact, drugs are secreted differently into breast milk. The more fat soluble the drug, the higher the concentration in breast milk. The PH of the drug makes a big difference too. Zoloft is a drug present in tiny amounts in breast milk. The good news is that there have been no reported adverse affects on breastfeeding moms from Zoloft.Daily exercise is important. Therefore, try to exercise. Start off by taking short walks. Small walks can be a powerful component to the way you feel. Furthermore, exercise is the strongest antidepressant medication.There are side effects that you need to watch for when taking Zoloft. For the mom they are: headaches, dizziness, insomnia, nervousness, dry mouth, dyspepsia, nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, tremors and sweating. For the baby they are: problem sleeping and agitation. In 2015, there was a review on sertraline and its metabolite transfer. It was found that the baby got a minimal amount transferred into breast milk.
